The School of TAIKO


‘The School of Taiko’ was established by Ringtaro Tateishi and Asako Tateishi, in the Seattle area
for teaching and performing of TAIKO and other traditional Japanese instruments, last fall in 2009.


Through providing Taiko class and education, public performance,
we are challenging encourage mutual understanding among different cultures
and make the opportunity to reflect our own roots in positive ways in addition spreading Japanese culture.

We believe that learning the TAIKO is not only for experience Japanese Culture,
but for making health body,tough spirits and mind ,
also it is work for keeping up good sense of rhythm and harmony:we call it  "WA".

Our another challenge is to create our professional performance team for sublimation TAIKO
to worldwide entertainments keeping Japanese cultural heritage and noble mind /spirits.


Our school Principal / Professional Performer , Ringtaro Tateishi is
former member/artistic director of ONDEKOZA from 1989 to 1999.
He had performed over 1,000times at 26 countries such as four times performances at Carnegie Hall, NYC.
After leaving ONDEKOZA, he still performs as their guest performer.

He has also performed daily at EPCOT of Walt Disney World in Florida,
for seven years, from 2002 to 2009.



With over 35years experience playing TAIKO all over the world,
he believes that; TAIKO is a great Japanese Entertainment
which has been enjoyed in the world with their endless power to affect the depth of people’s minds and spirits and they has infinite possibilities to make new wind in music world.
So, he is searching to discover the essence of Taiko and is interested in creating new ensembles
with various Japanese musical instruments.

Our performance and practice piece for school are using numbers which composed by Ringtaro Tateishi
with respect for Japanese spirits and movements from ancient times.
We hope you can feel the mind and spirits of Japanese/Asian through learning / performing TAIKO with us.
